Klaf (Mezuzah Parchment) 7cm Tall
These kosher klafs (also called parchments) are hand written by rabbinical scholars in Israel. A klaf is the scroll the goes into a mezuzah case. It is the scroll itself that is holy. It contains the Jewish prayer, the Shema, beginning with the phrase: "Listen, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One." Mezuzot are placed on entry doors to fulfill the Biblical commandment to proclaim the Shema "on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
These are Ashkenazi style so they are calligraphed on animal skin without bleaching so the natural beauty of the skin shows through.
Comes in cellophane sleeve to be removed before adding to a case.
Measures: 7cm tall x 9cm wide (2.75" tall x 3.38" wide)
