With essays by Aram Han Sifuentes, Grace Kyungwon Hong, and exhibition curator Kendra Paitz. Designed by Alice J. Lee.

We Are Never Never Other is published in conjunction with Aram Han Sifuentes's solo exhibition of the same name, presented at University Galleries in 2019. Featuring textiles and participatory works created since 2011, this monograph focuses on four of the artist's ongoing projects: A Mend; U.S. Citizenship Test Sampler; Protest Banner Lending Library; and Official Unofficial Voting Station.

Rooted in her experiences as an immigrant from South Korea, Han Sifuentes developed her community-based textile projects to confront social justice issues including racial equity, immigration rights, economic disparities, and political disenfranchisement. She writes, “Much of my communal work revolves around sharing skills as a point of connection. We share sewing techniques to create multiethnic and intergenerational sewing circles, which become a place for empowerment, subversion, and protest.”
