Sterling Silver Roman Glass and Garnet Pin/Pendant
Av Omer Jewelry
The color and texture of the piece of Roman Glass combined with the swirling silver metalwork on this large-scale, dual-use pin/pendant resemble the beauty of the Dead Sea. The two, small garnet stones on either side of the piece lend a pleasing contrast.
Designed by Moshe David, a tenth-generation Yemenite goldsmith in Jerusalem, Israel. He has faithfully carried on the family tradition since he first began working alongside his father at the age of seven.
About Ancient Roman Glass
Ancient Glass, found in Israel, dates back to the Roman period and may be as much as 2,000 years old. For hundreds of years, these glass fragments of bottles, plates, glasses, and other objects lay embedded in oxide-rich soil creating their natural vibrant blue-green hues. Prolonged exposure to the damp surroundings caused patina formations on some pieces, adding brilliant luster and unusual textures, while other pieces found by old ports, like Caesarea, were washed for centuries leaving them clear and smooth.
Made of sterling silver with ancient Roman glass and garnet in Israel.
