Embroidered Pomegranate Tallit
This Emanuel tallit is made of handwoven raw silk, appliquéd with embroidered pomegranates, one of the seven species of the land of Israel. The pomegranate's 613 seeds represent good deeds.
Yair Emanuel is an Israeli designer whose principal techniques encompass painting on silk, hand embroidery, and raw-silk appliqué. All of his pieces are designed and created in his studio in Jerusalem, which employs recent immigrants and the developmentally disabled. A portion of the studio's profits are donated to charity.
